With the end of May nearing the bite is about ten days behind normal. With white bass still showing up in big numbers in the rivers and still full of spawn. The walleye bite is spotty, but showing moments of really good action on slip bobbers fishing on points and reefs on Buttes des Morts and Winnebago, using night crawlers and leeches. With the fly hatch on Winnebago coming to an end. Things should start to stabilize into summer patterns with consistency. With the water temperatures at 58 degrees on Winnebago and 62 on the up river lakes.
The trolling bite on the up river lakes is starting to produce some good catches of northerens and walleyes using Salmo Hornet lures and Flicker Shads. With the weather being inconstitent this spring, I'm looking foward to warm stable weather and having another great summer of fishing on the Winnebago System.
